This sweet dish just turned BOLD. How? Pork rind crust, that’s how. Plus, our pork rinds are gluten free and low carb.
2 cups Southern Recipe Small Batch Cranberry Jalapeño Pork Rinds or Apple Cinnamon Pork Rinds, (seasonal) finely crushed
1 cup Blanched almond flour
1/4 cup Flaxseed, ground
1 can Apple pie filling
Preheat oven to 400 °F.
In a large bowl, combine pork rinds, almond flour, flaxseed and eggs. Stir until combined. Use your hands to make sure the dough is completely combined.
Place half of the mixture into a greased tart pan, and use your hands to press the dough evenly around the tart pan.
Place parchment paper on top of the tart, and use ceramic baking beans to weight the dough down. Place in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes.
Once cooled, fill the tart with the warmed apple pie filling.
